
Coach Moore has extensive experience on the defensive side of the ball, including coaching at a dozen
collegiate football programs, 5 NFLstops, 1 UFL campaign and 2 NFL Europe seasons. He has also
coached two members of the 2006, 2007 & 2009 AFC Pro Bowl squad -- Indianapolis Colt, Dwight
Freeney and Arizona Cardinal, Miami Dolphin and former Pittsburgh Steeler, Joey Porter -- as collegians.
Thurmond is presently training N.F.L. future stars JJ Watt, Marcel Dareus, Drake Nevis, Cameron
Heyward, Cameron Jordon, Aldon Smith, and Adrian Taylor, while also serving as a defensive line
instructor for Football University. Coach Moore has worked with the N.F.L.'s Chargers, Rams, Raiders,
49ers and Cardinals. Moore recently served as defensive Line coach for the UFL New York Sentinals.
and as Defensive Coordinator for the Orange Lutheran Lancers, he lead the Lancer defense to two CIF
PAC 5 semifinal appearances in two seasons.
Previous to Orange Lutheran, he was the defensive line coach at UCLA and cornerbacks coach at the
University of Tulsa. While at Tulsa the Golden Hurricane ranked 22nd nationally in pass defense,
allowing just 191.3 yards per game.
Coach Moore spent two seasons as the defensive coordinator at the University of Buffalo. Moore
guided the Bulls to one of the biggest defensive turnarounds in the nation with a reduction in overall
points allowed from 452 to 286 (down 14.9 points per game).
Before Buffalo, Moore helped the Syracuse defense earn national recognition during his two years
coaching the defensive line. It was during this time that he coached future Pro Bowl performer Dwight
Freeney. Syracuse placed among the nation's top 20 in total defense in both seasons while racking up
61 sacks over that span.
As the defensive line coach for Colorado State, he helped the Rams to a WAC Championship and Holiday
Bowl berth. During his tenure he coached future Arizona Cardinal, Miami Dolphin, Pittsburgh Steelers
Joey Porter and Cardinal and Steeler Clark Haggans.
At the collegiate level, Coach Moore has coached several future NFL players including Freeney, Porter,
Haggans, Eric Downing (Syracuse), and Adrain Ross (CSU). He has also acquired the expertise and
experience needed to guide young athletes in the proper fundamentals of tackling and defensive play.
