Background of the Tackling Academy
The Tackling Academy is a unique, one of a kind football experience, combining a coaching clinic with an athletes’ camp. It is designed to
teach the most current and safest way to tackle.  The techniques taught at The Tackling Academy have been implemented in the UFL, NFL,
College and High School levels. Thurmond Moore is the founder, CEO and head coach at The Tackling Academy. Coach Moore has been a UFL,
NFL and Division 1 College coach
during 2011 trained six 1st round NFL draft picks and is currentlty training 2 NFL players plus 10 future NFL
stars.

Why the Tackling Academy?
The Tackling Academy is designed to enhance the tacking skills, techniques, and fundamentals for both the coach and athlete while
increasing the knowledge of tackling through non-contact drills. The intent of the Academy to teach proper footwork and tackling techniques
that will help prevent neck injuries. The Tackling Academy lays a foundation that allows athletes to improve their tackling techniques in
different game time situations.

How the Tackling Academy Works
Coaches who enroll in the Tackling clinic attend a two-hour coaches clinic that will train, educate and prepare them to implement the learned
skills of “safe and effective tackling” into their own program and drills. The coaches training program is comprised of video demonstrations
as well as hands on participation. Coaches are provided with a handout of the recommended terminology and drill progression for their use.
Following the clinic, their athletes should attend a three and one half hour camp. Coaches are also strongly encouraged to attend the camp in
order to witness the hands-on instruction given to their athlete’s.   Both the football players and the coaches benefit and learn from this unique
process.  It is vital that coaches participate in the coaching Clinic, so that they can properly teach their athletes the proper tackling system.
The main purpose of the clinic/camp is to make sure that the players are utilizing the latest and safest tackling technique; therefore the
coaches must understand how to best approach and teach tackling correctly, safely and efficiently to their team members.

Participation to the camp is open to all boys and girls that play football and want to learn the latest and safest ways to tackle. Another unique
aspect of the Tackle Academy's players camps is that it will travel to your location.  The date and time of each clinic /camp is determined at a
first come, first serve basis.  Most Tackling Academy camps are held during the pre-season in order to help both players and coaches’ gear
up for the fall football season.  The safe tackling techniques learned at the summer camp can drastically reduce injuries and missed tackles
during the season.

The Tackling Academy takes pride in offering these main ideas at every camp:
  • Instruction by former UFL, NFL, NCAA and top high school coaches
  • Emphasizes all the elements of tackling
  • Emphasis on how to tackle effectively and safety
